An introduction to a SPACE and a client. An infusion of client ideas, dreams, and needs. As the designer listens, a vision begins to formulate. Client relays perceived scope of work, schedules, and budget parameters. If client and designer are in agreement thus far, HATHAWAY evaluates client's scope of work and overview of project. HATHAWAY then drafts and presents a proposal. The proposal/contract is reviewed. If it meets with client approval, a retainer is provided. HATHWAY then collects all critical design criteria, requirements, and data. The designer develops a visual picture of the space completed. OUTCOME: a strong, clear, vision based solely on our imaginations and the client's requirements. |

| The
vision now takes physical form in the final decision-making between client
and designer.
The designer presents floor plans, furniture layout, reflected ceiling plans, finish materials, color schemes, and custom casework for approval. Preliminary selections of furnishing are reviewed. Budgets are approved after final decisions have been made. Ordering of long-lead time items may be necessary in this phase. Outcome: 1) finalized and approved plans for space, lighting, finish materials, furnishings, and architectural details to create an "identity package", and 2) amended budgets. |

Purchasing of finalized furnishings, fixtures, equipment begins and may continue throughout the facilitation phase. Outcome: 1) detailed plans from which to work, 2) good communication and a high level of workability between designer, contractor, and client, which is needed to successfully complete the construction phase, and 3) approved budgets and schedules. |
